Dental Crowns
Chipped, discolored, or otherwise misshapen teeth? Need to hold a bridge or other dental implant in place? Need a little bit of extra strength for a weak tooth? A dental crown can help!
How Are Dental Crowns
Applied?
Dental crown application is done over the course of two in-office visits. During the first, low radiation digital x-rays will be taken. The dentist will numb the tooth and gums so they can remove any unhealthy tooth structure from the surrounding area, making room for the crown. Afterward, they will place a putty or paste around the tooth to make an impression.
From there, the impression will be sent to a lab, where the crown will be molded from a variety of available materials. Our dentists will discuss all of the material options with you, and help you decide which is best for your individual needs. In the meantime, you will receive a temporary crown to use until the permanent crown is ready. During the second appointment, the area surrounding the tooth will be numbed, and the permanent crown will be cemented in place.
