Protect your gums from
Periodontitis
Periodontitis is advanced gum disease which usually begins as gingivitis. Like most things, if you recognize the warning signs early on it will be easier to treat which means it is important to visit your dentist regularly.
Some of the warning signs of Periodontitis are: gum line recession, red and inflamed gums, or gums bleeding when you floss or brush.
If you notice you have these happening to you regularly, please give us a call.
What is Periodontitis?
Periodontitis, also known as gum disease, is a bacterial infection of the gums and bones that support the teeth. A common cause of Periodontitis is plaque buildup. As the plaque builds up, gums begin to pull away from the teeth which create pockets where bacteria can easily grow. As the body tries to fight off the bacteria it can cause the surrounding teeth to wear down. If not treated, this may cause bone loss, severe gum recession, and tooth loss.
Platinum Dental of Mountain View knows that early detection is key in treating Periodontitis.
