Helping Preserve Those Precious Smiles for a Lifetime
The Special Work Of
Pediatric Dentistry
Going to the dentist can be a nerve-wracking experience for both child and guardian, especially the first visit. At Platinum Dental of Mountain View we are committed to making pediatric dental visits a positive experience for everyone involved.
We’re excited to help our youngest West Jordan neighbors establish a positive dental experience from the very beginning!
When Should You Bring In Your Child For a First Visit?
We recommend that a child’s first dental visit occur within six months after the first tooth grows in, and that they have a regular checkup every six months after that. The more your child is checked out by one of our Mountain View dentists, the better we’ll be able to encourage proper growth and care, and catch any issues early, which makes them easier to treat or repair.
What Can You Expect
At Platinum Dental of Mountain View we believe that early education and preventative care are the best ways to achieve a healthy mouth and smile. During your child’s pediatric visit we will check out their jaws, bite, gums and oral tissues. Depending on their age, they will also receive a routine cleaning. We will help teach them how to properly brush and floss and the importance of doing so. However, to guarantee a lasting impact from our visit, we need your help! Most preventative dental care happens inside the home. If you have any questions on how to help your little ones take care of their teeth at home, please give us a call.
Ways to reduce a child’s dental visit anxiety:
- Read children’s books about dental visits
- Watch episodes of kid shows specifically about dental visits
- Role play with toys on what will happen at the dentist
- If possible, have them watch you or an older, more relaxed sibling get their checkup done first
